BREAKING: NPP Expels Hopeson Adorye, Three Others Over Breach of Party Constitution

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled four prominent members—Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, and Yaw Buaben Asamoa—for violating the party’s constitution.

The expulsion comes in the wake of the quartet’s public endorsement of a candidate other than the officially elected Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, a move deemed in blatant disregard of the party’s constitutional provisions.

According to Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution, all members are required to “abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party.” Moreover, Article 3(9) (1) specifies that a member who stands as an independent candidate against the officially elected party member or supports another political party automatically forfeits their party membership.

In light of these constitutional violations, the NPP has asserted that Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, and Yaw Buaben Asamoa have “automatically forfeited” their membership and are no longer considered part of the party.

The NPP urges its members to uphold their duties as outlined in Article 3(5) and emphasizes the party’s primary focus—to unite its ranks and garner support from Ghanaians for a historic victory in the upcoming 2024 general elections. The expulsion serves as a stern reminder of the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and cohesion within its ranks.
