Tragedy struck this morning in the Ashanti Region as a saloon car carrying five individuals veered off the road and plunged into the Owabi River near Dabaah in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District. The incident, which occurred around 6 a.m., has left four feared dead, while one person remains unaccounted for.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was en route to Akropong from Darbaa when the driver lost control, causing it to skid off the road and crash into the river. The passengers included the driver, her two children, and two male adults – a teacher and a plumber – who were reportedly given a lift.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and began recovery efforts, though they faced significant challenges due to the river’s depth and swift currents. As of now, authorities have yet to retrieve the fifth victim and the vehicle from the river.
