The Traditional Council of the Ashante Kingdom has, in a way, asked Kumasi based Oyerapa Fm/ TV to take hold of operations after the supposed unfortunate statement made by Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike on their media space.
Odike, a businessman and politician accused traditional leaders in the Greater Ashanti Region for having hands in illegal mining within the vicinity. He then threatened to stage demonstration against Kumasi chiefs.
According to the Acting President of the Council who also doubles as Bantamahene, Baffuor Amankwatia VI, Oyerapa Fm/TV gave Odike the space to spew out the unfortunate words without stopping him.
When management of the media house appeared before Kumasi traditional council to apologise, Bantamahene Baffuor Amankwatia caution that the media house should seize operation effective August, 25, 2022 to prevent excessive anger from the council.

“you gave Odike the platform to say all that he said without caution. If you want us to accept your apology and show remorse, then announce to your listeners that you’ve erred and apologise.
“Again, if you want Manhyia to give you hearing, then you have to close down your radio station from Friday, August 26, until the pending issue is resolved. If not, we won’t take it lightly when you appear before us again” – Baffuor Amankwatia VI said.
