Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has led a presentation of mobile identification devices and a Mobile Device Management System to the Ghana Police Service as part of the support for a digitalised Ghana and the combat of crime in the country.
Dr. Bawumia who has been in the position of prominence to gradually move Ghana’s economy forward through digitalisation presented the devices on behalf of donors, the Margin Group.
He stated that, the device will make the work of the police easy by serving numerous purposes.
These purposes include capturing “the unique biometric and biographic information of individuals, verify vehicle registration, drivers license, road worthiness certificate and insurance, and match the data against other databases including the National Identification Authority’s database” — Dr. Bawumia wrote on Facebook.
He added that, “real- time access to data on individuals, vehicles, criminal histories etc” will be easily accessed by the police using the device.
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has over a long time underscored the importance of digitalisation to the success of organisations and transformation of economies in the 21st century,
He believes that digitalisation has the power to ensure organisational success, and ultimately, make greater contributions towards the digital economic transformation agenda of the government.
