CID Reveals Disturbing Details in Murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has disclosed disturbing details in the ongoing probe into the brutal killing of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) officer, Stephen King Amoah, whose charred remains were discovered on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
At a press conference held on Monday, August 4, 2025, the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, confirmed that the prime suspect, Bright Aweh, has been formally charged with murder and remains in police custody as investigations intensify.
According to COP Donkor, forensic teams uncovered key pieces of evidence linking the suspect to the crime. Notably, a fufu pestle wrapped in polythene and stained with blood was found near the suspect’s residence. Further examination of the suspect’s home revealed bloodstains in the living room and attempts to conceal evidence, including recently painted walls.
“These findings suggest deliberate efforts by the suspect to clean up the crime scene and obstruct the investigation,” COP Donkor stated.
Bright Aweh was arraigned before the Adabraka District Court and has been remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear in court on Friday, August 8, 2025.
The CID has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure justice is served. Meanwhile, investigations remain ongoing as forensic experts continue to analyze evidence retrieved from multiple scenes.
