Florida, SIXSCRIBES – An old woman by name Violet Edwards, 96, has graduated from college with an enviable 4.0 GPA.
According to news report by Local 10 News, sighted by sixscribes.com, the South Florida woman achieved her childhood goal whiles still battling breast cancer.
Grandma Edwards failed to complete College of New Rochelle in New York state in the early 1980’s because she dropped to see her daughter through medical school.
She resorted to staying home, taking care of her grandkids, and most importantly working at her daughter’s Medical practice.
A year ago, she learned the College of New Rochelle had closed, but her records were transferred to Mercy College in New York City where she enrolled on an online course. She completed her coursework successfully in June 2022.
She has undergone her final cancer radiation treatment. After successfully fighting these battles of academic excellence and radiation treatments, she was thrown a party at the retirement home in Parkland, Florida where she lives.
Violet Edwards moved to the United States from Jamaica in 1973, so, the Jamaican Consulate General presented her with a proclamation.
