The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced that all national service personnel will begin basic military training from August 3, 2025.
This new training is part of a programme called the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP). It is meant to help service personnel learn basic military drills and become more disciplined and prepared.
The decision was made after a meeting between the NSA and the Military High Command on April 23, 2025, at the Ministry of Defence in Accra.
The training follows President John Dramani Mahama’s speech in Parliament on February 27, 2025. In his speech, the President said that short-term military training would help build discipline, patriotism, and physical strength among graduates.
Mr. Felix Gyamfi, the Director-General of the NSA, said the training will last up to two months and will be part of the national service experience. He said the programme is a good move and should be supported by everyone, especially the youth.
Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, who spoke for the Military High Command, said the Armed Forces are ready to support the programme when it begins.
The NSA is still working on the final details and making sure all the necessary items are ready before the training starts in August.
