A shocking discovery by a farmer in the Afigya Kwabre North constituency of the Ashanti Region has sent ripples through the community, sparking concerns over potential election malpractice.
The farmer, whose identity has been withheld, stumbled upon two objects resembling ballot boxes hidden in the bush during routine agricultural work. Suspecting foul play, the farmer immediately alerted local party executives.
Upon closer examination, the boxes were found to contain what appeared to be ballot papers. One of the boxes, labeled as a parliamentary ballot box, bore the serial number 290401B and was tagged with the polling station name Abrim Ahenkro. The second box, identified as a presidential ballot box, displayed the serial number 529060 and was reportedly assigned to DA/Primary School Duaponko.
The discovery has alarmed residents questioning the integrity of the electoral process. Local stakeholders and political actors have called for urgent action by the Electoral Commission (EC) and other relevant authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly.
The Electoral Commission has yet to release an official statement on the matter. However, political analysts warn that such incidents could undermine trust in the democratic process if not addressed promptly and decisively.
