Ghanaian Actor and Comedian Lilwin Announces Candidacy for Afigya Kwabre South Seat as an Independent
Accra, August 23, 2023 – In a surprising turn of events, popular Ghanaian actor and comedian, Kwadwo Nkansah, widely known as Lilwin, has declared his intention to contest the Afigya Kwabre South seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections.
Lilwin’s decision was unveiled during an exclusive interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM. He revealed that he has been approached by numerous influential figures who encouraged him to run for the Member of Parliament (MP) position in the Afigya Kwabre South constituency. “Last year, around October, I found myself in a situation where a number of elders approached me. According to them, they had already convened to discuss the possibility of me becoming their MP, but as an independent candidate. The multifaceted entertainer further elaborated on the recent surge of support from his community. “They came for a copy of the movie and after watching it, they came and informed me that no matter what they have spoken with my mother, my uncle Wofa Atta, and a lot of my family members that I have to become an MP,” Lilwin recounted.
However, this announcement comes shortly after former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama offered advice to Lilwin, suggesting that he reconsider his decision to enter politics. Despite the reservations expressed by the former president, Lilwin appears resolute in his decision to pursue this new path.
