Coach of the Senegal National Football Team, Aliou Cisse, has confirmed that Moussa Ndiaye has been called up to the Senegal squad to replace Sadio Mane. The Bayern Munich forward was ruled out after sustaining injury in a 6-1 win league match against Werder Bremen.
The replacement looks strange since a left back will be replacing an injured attacker. Moussa Ndiaye plays primarily for RSC Anderlecht as a left back but can also function as center back. The 20-year-old Senegalese joined RSC Anderlecht from Barcelona B in August 2022.
According to FIFA, Senegal have not finalized the nationality switch of Monaco left back Ismail Jakobs, so Ndiaye will be backup for the Senegal side in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
