Unknown farmers have turned Nkawkaw stadium into maize plantation after the venue has been abandoned by government and other stakeholders.
According to Atinka FM, the contractor is aware of the corn farm on the venue. Atinka FM added the revelation was disclosed by Kofi Debrah who is an official of the National Sports Authority
In 2021, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif said about GH¢27M would be needed to complete the entire constitution the edifice when asked about in parliament.
Mustapha Ussif said this just a year after sod-cutting was done on Friday, September 18, 2020 by Isaac Asiamah, the former Youth and Sports Minister at Nkawkaw stadium.

Sports Writer, Jerome Otchere writes this on Twitter:
Nkawkaw “Stadium” turned into maize plantation field — more like a corn 🌽 farm, (Aburofuo).
According to @Atinka1047fm sports crew, the construction contractor is aware of the corn cultivation at the popular football park. This was disclosed to them by an @Gh_NSA official named Kofi Debrah.
In an article three years ago, I quoted a Facebook post by the Director General of the @Gh_NSA Prof. Peter Twumasi on arrangements between the Middle Belt Development Authority, the @Gh_NSA and the @moysgovgh to build the Nkawkaw Park.
Prof. Twumasi stated that the park has seen no “facelift for decades” and a technical team would be there “next week to ascertain the scope of work to be immediately followed by a sod-cutting to begin construction”. This was was on August 7, 2020.
Was it mere political talk? Did construction work start? The media must surely visit the Nkawkaw Park and also find out from the @Gh_NSA boss what happened. Until then, let’s pray for more rains so that the planted corn would grow for the farmer to harvest, sell and get ‘something to eat’.
